Today was a fun day. We had a community bell today to explore groups and different organizations set up by students. A couple of the groups caught my eye like the fishing group, biking group, the gaming group, and the computer programming group. I would like to explore some of these groups so I can become more involved in the school and so I can develop different skills.
The second part of the assembly was voting for class presidents, downloading remind, and explaining the dress code for spirit week. Nominating the class president was pretty cool, we got to hear different perspectives from people and hear the different point of views for making the school better. Two of the people really caught my attention for class president, they brought fresh ideas and showed great leadership skills that could really lead us freshman in the right way. I can't wait to see who was nominated! Downloading remind was very helpful, it allows us to see when test are, when we have school closings, and when we have homework. This app is a great way to stay organized and keep our grades up to par. Lastly, hearing about the dress code was really important for dress down day and spirit week. If we did not get a talk about dress down day and spirit week I would probably be in Mr. Ireton's office when these events come around. Today was a very productive day!

Labeling Maps

Today in class we labeled maps. We labeled prime meridians, equator, continents, oceans, the nation of your origin, the international date line, the tropic of Capricorn, the tropic of Cancer, and the John Carroll School. It was a very chill fun class today and I really enjoyed labeling all the different maps.

How Do Geographers Describe Where Things Are?

  • Geography is the study where things are found on Earth's surface and the reasons for the locations.
  • Human geographers ask two simple questions...
1. Where are people and activities found on Earth?

2. Why are they found there?

Why is each point on Earth unique?

  • Each point has different cultures and land types.
  • Nothing on Earth has the same features therefore it is unique in its own way.
Why are different places on Earth similar?
  • Different places on Earth are similar due to globalization because people start something on an international scale spreading it around the world.
Why are some human interactions not sustainable?
  • Some human interactions cannot be sustained because we use some resources like coal and gas at a pace much faster than it can be renewed meaning its not sustainable.

First Test

I thought the test was very good. The format of the test was very good and well written making the test pretty easy to do. I would suggest you give more room to right your essays though, other than that the test was fine.

My first days of school have went very good. I am really enjoying my new teacher's and making new friend's from all different school's. The staff at the school is very nice and the school is in immaculate condition. The environment is amazing and comfortable to learn in. I really love how all the teachers care and want their students to succeed so they can excel at learning and life skills. During these first days it has been really exciting to hang out and have fun with my teammates on and off the field going to games and practices. I love the family like connection with everyone in the school and I can't wait to spend my high school years at John Carroll.
